Telegram channel owner's glossary

The words you meet in channel statistics, advertising and settings, briefly and with formulas.

Audience and numbers

ERRengagement rate by reach
The share of subscribers who see an average post: average post views ÷ subscribers × 100%. A channel with 10,000 subscribers and 1,500 average views has an ERR of 15%. Channel statistics and ERR →
Reachpost views
How many times a post was viewed. Telegram shows a view counter on each post; reach of an ad post is usually checked 24 hours after it goes out.
Net growth
Joins minus leaves over a period. Shows whether a channel is growing or just churning its audience.
Subscriber source
Where a person came from: an ad, a cross-promo, a link in another channel. To see it, each source gets its own invite link. How to grow a channel →
Channel network
Several channels with one owner, run and sold to advertisers together. TGStudio for channel networks →

Advertising

CPMcost per mille
The price of a thousand views. Ad post price = average views × CPM ÷ 1000. How much to charge for ads →
Media kit
A public channel page for advertisers: topic, subscribers, reach, ERR, formats and placement prices. Ad sales →
Slotplacement format
What exactly is sold: for example, a post that stays on top of the feed for 24 hours, or a pinned post. A slot has a format and a price.
Escrow
An arrangement where an intermediary holds the advertiser's money and releases it to the channel owner only after the post goes out.
Cross-promotionshout-for-shout
A no-money ad swap between channels: each one publishes a post about the other. Cross-promotion in Telegram →
Placement report
A link to the published post and its reach during the placement. The advertiser checks it against what they paid for.

Telegram's in-app currency for digital goods and services: channel subscriptions, payments in bots, reactions. Stars are bought inside Telegram. Telegram Stars for channels →
Donation
Voluntary support for an author, with no subscription and no access to private content. Donations in a channel →
USDT TRC20
The USDT stablecoin on the TRON network. Pegged to the US dollar; transfers go to a wallet address for a small network fee.

Publishing

Scheduled post
A post written in advance that goes out on its own at a set time. Telegram has a built-in timer; services add repeats, several channels and editing after publication. Scheduled posts in Telegram →
Evergreen queue
A set of posts that don't go stale and are published in rotation to fill empty schedule slots.
Spintax
Text variants written in curly braces: {hi|hello}. One variant is picked at publication, so the text differs between channels.
RSS
A feed format for site updates. A bot or service reads the feed and turns new entries into posts. RSS autoposting →
Source channeldonor channel
A channel whose posts are taken for your own channel. The source's credits and links are usually removed in the process. Auto content and AI →

Telegram technology

Bot API
Telegram's official interface for bots. An admin bot can publish posts and see joins, but not post views or reactions.
Userbot
A regular Telegram account driven by a program. It reads what the Bot API lacks: views, reactions, public channels without joining.
MCPModel Context Protocol
An open protocol that lets an AI assistant connect to an outside service: read its data and call its actions. Your AI via MCP →
Mini App
A web app that opens inside Telegram from a bot, with nothing extra to install.

Chats and comments

Discussion group
A group linked to a channel; it holds the comments under posts.
