Telegram channel statistics: how to check them and what ERR means
You can see channel statistics in Telegram itself, through an admin bot or in an analytics tool. The key number for advertisers is ERR: average post views divided by subscribers, as a percentage.
Telegram’s built-in statistics
Admins open them from the channel profile with the Statistics button. They are not available to every channel: Telegram’s official page says channels with more than 500 subscribers. They show subscriber growth, views, sources and active hours.
What ERR is
ERR shows what share of subscribers sees a post on average. Formula: ERR = average post views ÷ subscribers × 100%. A channel with 10,000 subscribers and 1,500 average views has an ERR of 15%.
Advertisers look at ERR because they pay for views, not subscribers. A low ERR with a large audience often means inactive subscribers or a channel that stopped being interesting.
Numbers to check every week
- Growth: joins minus leaves for the week.
- Average views and ERR — up or down.
- Join sources: which link or ad brought people.
- Top posts: what they share — length, first line, media, posting hour.
Statistics for several channels at once
With more than one channel, a tool that puts them in one table is easier. In TGStudio subscribers, joins and leaves are counted as soon as the bot is connected, and views, reactions and ERR come with a userbot account, because the Bot API does not provide them. Post analysis and competitor tracking are in the same place.

FAQ
What is a good ERR?
There is no single norm: it depends on the topic and channel size. Compare the channel with itself week by week and with competitors in your niche. TGStudio’s health score treats 3% and above as healthy.
Why don’t I have a Statistics button?
Built-in stats are not open to every channel — Telegram’s page says from 500 subscribers. Until then use a bot or an analytics tool.
Can I see another channel’s stats?
The public numbers, yes: subscribers and views are visible to everyone. In TGStudio you add competitors by @username and a userbot reads them every 6 hours without joining.
