How to make a paid Telegram channel with subscriptions
A paid channel is a private channel people can join only after paying. There are two ways: Telegram’s built-in invite link with a monthly fee in Stars, or a bot that sells access for different terms and removes people whose term has ended. Here are both, step by step, and how they differ.
Step 1. Create a private channel
Create a channel in Telegram and choose the Private type: it has no public link and people join only by invitation. An existing public channel can be switched in the channel settings.
Option 1. Telegram’s built-in subscription
Telegram can sell access itself: in the channel settings open Channel Type → Invite Links, create a new link and turn on the monthly fee. The price is set in Telegram Stars, the subscription renews every 30 days and Stars go to the channel balance.
- Pro: nothing to connect.
- Limits: 30-day period only, Stars only, one price per link.
Option 2. A bot with access plans
A bot sells access for any term: a week, a month, a year. After payment the subscriber gets a personal invite link, and when the term ends the bot removes them from the channel. That is how Subscriptions work in TGStudio: plans in Stars, donations next to them, payouts in USDT TRC20 from $50.
- Several plans and terms in one channel.
- Personal links: a shared link cannot be passed around instead of paying.
- A Stars refund removes the paid period automatically.
Step 3. Promote the channel
A paid channel needs a storefront: a public channel or post that explains what is inside, with a payment button. A free sample works well — part of the content in a public channel with a link to the private one.
How much to charge
The simplest way to find the price is to test: start with one plan, then after a month compare how many people paid and how many renewed. A discounted yearly plan keeps the people who already value the channel.

FAQ
Do I need a website or a payment processor?
Not for Stars: the payment happens inside Telegram. Income tax follows the rules of your country.
Built-in subscription or a bot?
One monthly price is enough for the built-in option. Different terms, donations, USDT payouts and stats next to your posts call for a bot.
What happens when a term ends?
Telegram’s built-in subscription renews every 30 days. With the TGStudio bot the subscriber is removed and can renew with a new payment.
